Pastewka

Andreas Grimm: Pastewka has a monothematic score. This means that all the music is built upon elements of the grandiose yet somewhat clumsy title melody—whether it’s mischief, slapstick, loneliness, or true love. The only exception: when the future father-in-law dedicates a self-written ode to his daughter at a Schubert song evening.

Pastewka (2005–2020) featured Bastian Pastewka as a fictionalized version of himself, inspired by Curb Your Enthusiasm, but with scripted episodes instead of improvisation. Alongside him, Sonsee Neu, Matthias Matschke, and others starred in the show. Produced by Brainpool, the series aired on Sat.1 and later on Prime Video. With 99 episodes over ten seasons, it became a milestone in German comedy and won, among others, the Rose d’Or, the German Comedy Award (Deutscher Comedypreis), and the German Television Award (Deutscher Fernsehpreis).

Bastian Pastewka: To those who ask: Did all of this really happen to him?, I’d like to say: No, not everything! Just the embarrassing moments!
