Ritter Rost (Knight Rusty)

Andreas Grimm: The knight is a braggart with a soft core, the damsel is romantic, and Prince Protz is rather eccentric. Over seventy minutes of music require clear, adaptable elements to shape the dramatic arc. An animated film also demands musical involvement in movement design. The greatest challenge was creating a carefully balanced original score that incorporates motifs from a beloved children’s book/musical franchise and elevates them into a much larger dramatic framework.
The two animated films Ritter Rost – Eisenhart und voll verbeult (Knight Rusty – Tough as Nails and Fully Dented, 2013) and Ritter Rost 2 – Das Schrottkomplott (Knight Rusty 2 – The Scrap Conspiracy, 2017) brought the beloved characters from the children’s book series of the same name by Jörg Hilbert and Felix Janosa to the big screen. Both productions impressed with elaborate animation, humorous storytelling, and a high-profile voice cast.
The voice actors included Christoph Maria Herbst, Jella Haase, Rick Kavanian, Carolin Kebekus, Dustin Semmelrogge, Tom Gerhardt, Detlev Redinger, and Bianca “Bibi” Heinicke.
