Andreas Grimm: While Wolfgang and Anneliese pay homage to German folk music (Volksmusik) in each of their hearty songs, Norbert and Sue draw from the boundless treasure chest of German Schlager to celebrate their love.

Wolfgang and Anneliese Funzfichler were fictional stage characters in the German comedy scene, portrayed by Bastian Pastewka and Anke Engelke. As a “Bavarian folk music duo,” they performed in traditional attire while concealing a marital crisis caused by Wolfgang’s infidelity. They first appeared in 2007 in Fröhliche Weihnachten mit Wolfgang & Anneliese (Merry Christmas with Wolfgang & Anneliese) on Sat.1, followed by another Christmas special and Fröhlicher Frühling (Joyful Spring) in 2011, featuring guest stars such as David Hasselhoff and Hans Klok.
